Australia’s Best Paddlers Compete On The Gold Coast For 2017 Australian SUP Titles

The Australian SUP Titles will be held on Currumbin Beach, Queensland, from the 15th-18th November, with over 200 of the nations best paddlers competing for the prestigious title.
With a reputation as one of the biggest names to keep a close eye on, 26-year-old Michael Booth will be amongst competition this year.
“I’m really excited to be competing on the Gold Coast, especially at Currumbin. I am familiar with the stretch of beach and hopefully this will be an advantage to me come race day”.
Surfing Australia and Surfing Queensland expect the quality of competition for the 2017 titles to be at its highest, with many paddlers expressing they are pleased the event is being held back on the Gold Coast.
Booth said he is looking forward to challenging himself against an excellent field of competition, with both old and some new faces contending for the title.
“It will be an exciting few days of racing, with well-known names putting their foot on the start line to race as well as some fresh faces that will certainly be out to give us older guys a run for our money”.
Competitors will be attending the titles representing their State in one or more chosen disciplines over the course of the three days.
With Booth winning the European Title earlier this year, he has just one thing on his mind, to take out the Australian title as well.
“It really would be the ultimate end to my year if I were to win the Australian title next week, especially because my family and friends will be watching. I want to do it for them too”.
The event kicks off on Wednesday 15th November with the 20km marathon race.
