Booth aiming for back-to-back win heading into the Santa Paola downwind challenge this Sunday
By Lauren Barley
This weekend Michael Booth will take on the Santa Paola 15km downwind challenge in Spain, with another strong field assembled.
“I’m confident in my performance ability after some great results that I’ve had recently, I just have to stay focussed and continue to do what I have been doing,” said Booth.
The Santa Paola race will showcase similar conditions to those that Michael raced in last weekend when he took out the win in Agios Nikoalos.
“With the conditions looking to be similar to last weekend, I know what I did well and what I could adjust, so hopefully I can put my best foot forward on the weekend and have a perfect race”.
Booth has spent a few days resting and recovering in Barcelona with some light training and will fly to Alicante on Friday morning to warm up for Sundays race.
“It’s always nice to come to Europe and be able to fit in a little bit of the touristy activities in between racing, it keeps my mind at ease and makes the experience of travelling and racing a lot more enjoyable”.
Whilst Michael said his body is feeling a bit sore and tired after last weekends race, he is determined to keep his motivation levels peaking.
“It’s never easy backing it up two weekends in a row, especially when we are all giving each and every race our absolute best, but this is what we train for and I know come race day my body will be feeling good and I will be ready to go!”
The Elite course will kick off at midday on Sunday the 4th June, starting on the island of Tabarca and finishing on the beach at Levante, Santa Pola.
