Kicking Off 2018 On Home Soil
Aussie SUP paddler; Michael Booth will enter this years racing season competing in the 12 Towers Ocean Paddle Festival, beginning March 3rd on the Gold Coast.
For the seventh year running, the event will see some of the best paddlers in the world competing, making it a true test for Booth to get a feel for where he is sitting across the field of competition as he enters a big 2018 season.
“I’m really looking forward to racing, it’s going to be a very busy few months coming up, but I feel well rested and ready to get stuck in,” said Booth.
The 12 Towers long distance course will begin from Snapper Rocks, Coolangatta and finish at North Burleigh Hill – 14km along a picturesque coastline.
“It’s always nice to compete where I am familiar. I couldn’t think of a better place to have my first race of the year”.
Michael will use the race as a warm up event, leading up to the Air France Paddle Festival, held on April the 7th and shortly followed by the Carolina Cup on April 21st.
Despite only being a month into acute training, Booth said he is feeling fresh, both mentally and physically in a great place.
“I feel really focussed. I have had a great off-season with a few trips away working on some exciting projects”.
During the off season, Booth joined the Shaw and Partners race team, spent copious time working on his online coaching business and helped design boards for his major sponsor, Starboard.
Adding to the list of things he is working on, Michael is currently in the process of designing his own paddle range under the ‘Michael Booth’ brand.
“For now, I am not going to give away too much, but I definitely have a few exciting projects in the works that I can’t wait to share with you”.
