Booth Battling the Bay for a Consecutive Win

BOOTH Training’s Thursday Tip – Where to stand on your board in flat water.

Most manufacturers will have the handle in the centre of the board as this is the perfect point of balance when holding the SUP under your arm. This is also the best place to stand on your board to trim it perfectly on the flat water. Try and have your toes positioned at the front screw of the centre strap!

Some boards may be slightly different but start from here and move back and forward to find that sweet spot. Look for spray coming off the nose but make sure it is not sinking under the water. Better still get someone to film you from the side to ensure that your board is getting the proper trim in the water. You don’t want to be nose heavy or tail heavy as this changes the way the board reacts. For example if you’re back too far your nose will be out of the water and your 14ft board has just become a 12’6!

Practise this tip when you’re next out on the water and let us know how you go in the post on Facebook or Instagram!

Happy paddling,
Michael
