Booth Battling the Bay for a Consecutive Win

BOOTH Training’s Thursday Tip –  The entry on the catch

Today’s tip is about the entry on the catch. As you can see in this image I have created a lot of splash on the catch. It looks great for the dynamic effect of the image but is not the way to go for efficient power on entry. What we need to do is decrease the splash to minimal or nothing.

I guess you want to enter the water like an Olympic diver on a 10 point jump. The way to do this is ‘spear the fish’ or enter the water cleanly before you start pulling back. The reason for the splash in most cases is that you are rushing your top arm forward. So make sure you’re driving down with the top hand then engaging the bottom arm on entry. This will lead to more speed and less wasted energy!

Enjoy your time on the water, Michael
